WARANGAL: TPCC in charge Manikrao Thakre, consoling youth leaders over the attack on party-man Thota Pavan, said that the Congress will never be afraid of attacks from the BRS and will always stand by its cadre.

He said that BRS attacks on Congress leaders were increasing by the day as the Congress would form the next government in the state, in an interaction with media persons at Hanamkonda on Thursday.

Thakre visited the residence of Thota Pavan, accompanying TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy on his Haath Se Haath Jodo padayatra in Advocate’s Colony of Balasamudram in the district.

“Recently, they tried to kill one Congress worker, Valya Naik, in Kodada. They attacked youth Congress leader Pavan and tried to kill him and two days ago, they pelted stones at Revanth Reddy’s Haath Se Haath Jodo yatra and tried to hurt him,” Thakre said.

He claimed that the BRS leadership was well aware that MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar was behind the attack on Pavan and slammed the police for making namesake arrests in the incident.

“The police officials know that if they interrogate the four accused, they can get the name of key leaders of the BRS involved in the murder attempt on Pavan. That is why they did not take the case seriously,” he said.

Thakre said that the BRS was using the attacks as a tactic to force Congress leaders to switch their allegiance. “Such kind of acts are not good in a democratic country like India and the Congress party will never encourage such attacks,” he said.

“The people are observing every move of the BRS leaders and are not in a position to believe them anymore. They are wishing for a change and are ready to teach a befitting lesson to the BRS,” he said.

AICC secretary Rohit Chowdary, DCC president Naini Rajendar Reddy, former MPs P. Balram Naik and S. Rajaiah, former minister S. Chandrasekhar, former mayor Errabelli Swarna, former MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao, and TPCC members E. V. Srinivas Rao, Venu Gopal and N. Srinivas were present.
