Tight contest in Kuthuparamba
K.K. Shylaja says that no development has taken place in the constituency.
KOZHIKODE: The contest in Kuthuparamba has become tight with CPM central committee member K.K. Shylaja teacher, sitting MLA, K.P Mohanan (JD- S) and BJP’s C. Sadanandan Master engaged in a do-or-die battle.
Mr Sadanandan, 55, is fielded to send a clear message against CPM’s alleged murder politics in Kannur. “My candidature is definitely a message. We had lost 25 men in the constituency, including K.T Jayakrishnan Master and Panniyannur Chandran,” said Mr Sadanandan.
He is portrayed as the living example of CPM cruelty in Kannur. He was brutally hacked below both the knees on January 25, 1994 at Uruvechal in Kannur by eight CPM men. It was said that the severed legs were soaked in mud and cow dung to ensure that the legs never got re-joined.
This is the first time Mr Sadanandan entering the fray. A teacher at Peramangalam School in Thrissur, he is surviving with German-made artificial limps. He is the state vice-president of Desheeya Adyapaka Parishat and closely associated with Bharatiya Vichara Kendram.
K.K. Shylaja says that no development has taken place in the constituency. “More people will come out to vote this time, as they are getting a CPM candidate,” she said. Last time, LDF supported S.A. Puthiyavalappil (INL) lost to K.P. Mohanan by 3,303 votes. Meanwhile, Mr Mohanan is optimistic that he would repeat the feat.
