Placating Tejaswini Ananth Kumar: she is State bjp vice-President
Party state unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa tweeted the BJP\'s decision to appoint her as vice president around 2 pm on Tuesday.
Bengaluru: Just hours before BJP National President Amit Shah landed in Bengaluru on Tuesday to campaign for Tejasvi Surya, the party candidate for Bangalore South constituency, the BJP appointed Tejaswini Ananth Kumar its state vice president which is seen as a move to placate her ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Tejaswini was widely expected to get the Lok Sabha ticket for the constituency represented by her husband and former Union Minister late Ananth Kumar six times but could not make it with young Tejasvi, a BJP Yuva Morcha leader chosen by the central leadership. This had severely upset her and her supporters and the latest move by the party seems to be an attempt to set things right so that there would be no impact on the poll prospects of Tejasvi.
Party state unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa tweeted the BJP's decision to appoint her as vice president around 2 pm on Tuesday.
Sources said that with Tejaswini appointed state vice president, she would no longer be able to air her views in public against the party and could also be accommodated on the dais during election campaigns in Bangalore South constituency where she still enjoys huge sympathy after the death of her husband last year.
Sources said state RSS chief Mukund who reportedly met her three days back, had not made any commitment to her but had sent his inputs to the BJP top brass which has decided to give her a prestigious post apparently to send a positive signal to party workers and voters that justice has been done in her case.
