TD is anti-Kapu party, says Ambati Rambabu
VIJAYAWADA: Water resources minister Ambati Rambabu accused Telugu Desam of being anti-Kapus, as witnessed by booking of cases against people of Kapu community by the then Telugu Desam government when Ratnachal Express was burnt at Tuni.
Rambabu said that the cases had been false has been proved with the Railway court in Vijayawada dismissing the cases on Monday. Saying TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and his associates are unhappy with the court verdict, he alleged that the training burning had been a political conspiracy hatched by Telugu Desam when Naidu had been the chief minister.
The minister pointed out that at the time, Kapus had launched a large-scale movement under the leadership of Mudragada Padmanabham seeking fulfilment of Naidu’s promise that Kapus will be provided BC status. “Not only did Naidu not grant BC status, he booked false cases against Kapus,” he remarked.
Rambabu maintained that right from the beginning, Telugu Desam has been against Kapus. He underlined that Kapu leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga had been brutally murdered on orders of Chandrababu Naidu, as then senior leader Ch. Harirama Jogaiah had stated. Not only had Ranga been killed at Naidu’s behest, 69 cases had been booked against Kapu leaders under Sections 302 and 307 after the murder.
The minister said TD government filed 11 criminal cases against him (Rambabu). Later, the then Congress government withdrew all the cases with a single GO.
Rambabu recalled that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy too had issued a GO on July 27, 2020 after assuming charge, cancelled all cases filed by the TD government against Kapus.
Referring to Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, the minister maintained that all Kapus will not support the JS leader for his immoral alliance with TD.
