KURNOOL: The hectic activity within the YSRC hints at the fact that the party is on the lookout for new faces for Nandyal and Kurnool Parliamentary contests.

Indications are that the incumbents would be changed for the 2019 election. There is a new strength visible within the party.

YSRC in Kurnool district is forging ahead with unity among its leaders. With the induction of Gangula brothers into the party, there is a new lease of life to the party.

The constituency plenary meetings conducted by the party in the district evoked good response among the cadre.

District unit president Gouru Venkata Reddy has played a constructive role in bringing different sections together in the party. After the murder of Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy, there is a new strength seen in the party. Even the Central party obse-rvers seem to be backing local leadership.

Kurnool MP Butta Renuka appears to be thinking of contesting as MLA in the 2019 elections from Yemmiganur constituency that has the largest chunk of Padma Shali voters.

Butta believes it would a safe bet to nurture the constituency as she belongs to the same social status. On the other hand, former Union minister Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy was also rumoured to join YSRC. If that happens, he would contest as an MP candidate from Kurnool LS constituency.

District president Gouru Venkat Reddy said “There is no dearth of leaders for us. When Bhuma Nagi Reddy and Akhila Priya left us, we had replacement in Gangula Prabhakar Reddy. In Kodumur we have Muralikrishna. Haffez Khan in Kurnool town and Raja Gopal Reddy in Nandyal. They are all working hard to reach out to people and keep our flag flying high.”

As far as Nandyal Parliamentary constituency is concerned, there is a virtual demand from among former Minister and a five times elected MLA.

Nandyal MP  S.P.Y Reddy joined YSRC after he got elected on YSRC ticket in 2014.

Now, it is said, he is no more inclined to contest. Rather he is lobbying to push his son-in-law Sajjala Sridhar Reddy into politics.

Pathikonda constituency K. Sridevi, the widow of Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy, has been announced by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as their candidate in the next general elections.

Bharath Reddy, a functionary of the party said that YSRC is very strong in Kurnool district. Leaders might have deserted it. But people are solidly behind us, he added.
