At one point of time, the leaders, including Leaders of the Opposition in the Assembly and the Legislative Council, K. Jana Reddy and Mohd. Ali Shabbir respectively, took objection to the remarks of TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Hyderabad: Alleging that voting for the TRS and the MIM was like voting for the BJP, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy gave a call to Muslims to vote for the Congress to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.

Speaking to mediapersons on Monday at Gandhi Bhavan along with AICC general secretary and TS affairs incharge R.C. Khuntia, Mr Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had cheated Muslims in the last four years including on 12 per cent reservations for the community.

Earlier, Mr Reddy and Mr Khuntia along with party leaders Shabbir Ali and V. Hanumantha Rao and party workers conducted a rally from Gandhi Bhavan to Abids to protest against Mr Chandrasekhar Rao for not fulfilling his poll promise of 12 per cent reservations for Muslims. They posted letters at the Abids general post office to Mr Rao asking him to his poll promise.

He alleged that the TRS and the MIM had a secret pact with the BJP. Admitted that 2013 the Congress had fielded weak candidates in Old City constituencies to benefit the MIM, Mr Reddy said this time the  Congress would put up strong candidates to defeat MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.

On the acquittal of all the accused in the Macca Masjid blast case, Mr Reddy said, “If all are innocents, then who are the accused?” He said it was unfortunate that the inquiry report on the incident had not been put in the public domain.

He said in the Alair encounter, three Muslim youth were shot dead and asked the state government why no probe had been ordered. He said that utter injustice was being done to Muslims in Mr Rao’s  tenure.
