Pudukkottai registrar sought transfer
Sasikala was transferred to Virudhunagar as District Registrar on her request on July 31, but she got relieved only on Wednesday.
Pudukkottai: The transfer of Pudukkottai District Registrar Sasikala to Virudhunagar was not linked to her action of freezing the properties owned by Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar on Tuesday, official sources said here on Wednesday.
They said Sasikala was transferred to Virudhunagar as District Registrar on her request on July 31, but she got relieved only on Wednesday. “The transfer has nothing to do with her actions on Tuesday,” the sources said. As news of the transfer of the District Registrar spread, rumours were afloat that the action was taken against her because of her freezing 100 acres of land and a quarry in Thiruvengaivasal near here owned by Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar and his family.
The action came after I-T department sent a formal communication to District Registrar Sasikala asking her to “freeze” the 100-acre land and the quarry based on their initial assessment of the raids that took place at these premises in April this year.
I-T sleuths had raided the official residence of Vijayabhaskar and properties owned by his family and the family in April in the run up to the R K Nagar by-elections which was cancelled due to rampant distribution of money to voters. The I-T sleuths had also seized some “incriminating documents” from Vijayabhaskar’s residence and other premises.
