HYDERABAD: Former MLA from Secunderabad and popular actress Jayasudha on Wednesday joined the BJP. She was welcomed into the party by the party’s state president G. Kishan Reddy, national general secretary Tarun Chugh, and party national vice-president D.K. Aruna, in New Delhi.

Jayasudha had served as an MLA for one term in the united Andhra Pradesh Assembly from 2009 to 2004 and had won from Secunderabad on a Congress ticket. She later joined the TD and was with the YSRC  for a while before taking a break from active politics before deciding to join the BJP.

She said she decided to join the BJP inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and government.

Kishan Reddy said Jayasudha and he were colleagues earlier in the AP Assembly and looks forward to her adding strength to the party. Recalling her term as an MLA from Secunderabad, Kishan Reddy said Jayasudha’s joining brings in a new enthusiasm to the BJP in Telangana state. She is expected to be given some responsibilities of working with  the Christian and other minority communities for the party.

Jayasudha is the third actress of repute in the BJP in Telangana state, and joins the ranks of former MP and Vijayashanti, and D. Kavitha.
