VISAKHAPATNAM: Telugu Desam chief and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu declared that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Reddy has imposed a financial debt of ₹3.25 lakh on every family in the state in the past three years.

Chairing the TD general body meeting at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri on Friday, Naidu said an average American earns $65,000 a year, while an NRI makes $1.25 lakh per annum.

"In Andhra Pradesh, people of the state are suffering a heavy financial burden because of Jagan Mohan Reddy's governance," Naidu remarked. He pointed out that petrol prices are the highest in Andhra Pradesh. Various taxes, including professional tax and property tax, are being imposed on people.

The former chief minister maintained that rulers need to have a vision on how to develop the state and not have hatred against people. “But now, Andhra Pradesh is witnessing hatred,” Naidu charged, marking 40 years of TD’s formation by N.T. Rama Rao, who, he said, introduced welfare schemes that provided food security to people of the state for the first time.

The Telugu Desam chief went on to recall the recent incident in Anantapur district, wherein a constable Prakash has been dismissed from service for holding a placard seeking arrears. Srilakshmi, the woman who has openly said that the constable has not harassed her, is now being subjected to persecution, he stated.

Naidu said: "It always gives me satisfaction to see Telugu people at the top in every sector. Hyderabad is what it is today because it has been developed with a vision," he underlined.

Reminding about a recommendation for suspending Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's assembly membership for recommending a mining contract to his own firm, the former CM asked what action should be taken against Jagan in the Saraswati land issue.

On the occasion, Naidu wanted his party’s constituency in-charges to stay in their respective areas at least for 10 days in a month. “There are still 18 more months to go for assembly elections if held as per schedule. But Jagan Mohan Reddy may go for early polls,” he remarked.

The TD chief called on party leaders to go to people with the slogan "Quit Jagan, save Andhra Pradesh".
