BJP's popularity on ground rising: Kishan
HYDERABAD: The BJP on Saturday declared that the party was gaining strength at the ground level and that it did not place much stock on other parties holding ‘high profile’ events to admit defectors. It said that it was steadily increasing its presence at the ground level, with local level leaders from other parties were lining up to join the BJP.
State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy said, “This effort was being led by Etala Rajendar, chairman of the BJP’s joinings committee. Many local important leaders are joining the BJP, and under his leadership, we will draw up a schedule for more such event.”
Kishan Reddy was addressing a gathering at the party headquarters where a large number of leaders from different caste groups, and others, followers of M. Jaipal Reddy, son of M. Baga Reddy, former Congress leader from Medak district, joined the BJP.
Rajendar said, “The BJP does not believe in ‘artificial boosting’ of the party by making a show of some ‘high-profile’ joinings, but is working from the ground up. In the next few days, there will be hundreds more of such joinings at meetings that will be held at the constituency level, he added.
Kishan Reddy criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for arresting party leaders and workers from Kamareddy who were headed for Gajwel, the CM’s constituency, to check on the BRS claims of development “Is Gajwel the private property of KCR? Was it bequeathed to him either by the Nizam or Owaisi,” Kishan Reddy asked.
Declaring that “the BJP is ready for anything,” Kishan Reddy said the BJP is not intimidated by use of force by the BRS government and restricting his party’s people from moving freely in the state.
