It\'s time BJP wakes up to people\'s woes, says Kumaraswamy
BENGALURU: Endorsing the views expressed by organising secretary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Dattareya Hosabale that economic inequality, poverty and unemployment are dangerous for the country, Janata Dal Secular (JD-S) leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday said economic inequality in the country is a black dot when the country is celebrating its Amrit Mahotsav (75 years) of country’s Independence.
“People’s frustration and impatience is increasing day by day” he said and warned the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre that “It is time that BJP woke up.”
The two-time Chief Minister Kumaraswamy warned the Union Government in his Twitter post that “an increasing economic inequality leads to a bigger rage and getting caught in the web of the corporate world.”
Dwelling on the problems he said the country is facing, he stated that about 20 crore population are below poverty line and 4 crore unemployed youths in the country, and Kumaraswamy questioned the BJP government at the Centre, “Who has become rich in the last seven years?”
Referring to the questions raised by Dattareya Hosabale on the prevailing scenario in the country, Kumaraswamy said pointing at Hosabale’s revelations, he has spoken the truth of what surveys have also. About 23 crore people are earning less than Rs 375 a day while one industrialist is making R 42 crore per hour while his weekly earnings is about Rs 6,000.
He said he was shocked by the RSS leader's statement that “One person is holding about 20 percent of the country's wealth.”
Malnutrition is rampant across the country and that lakhs of villages in the country are reeling under drinking water shortage, he said “When this is the truth, why the fear to introspect?. Going by the stats, he termed “It is a shame that people of the country are struggling to earn one meal a day.”
