Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minsiter Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday took his audience by surprise when he, in an emotion-filled speech, said that “You will miss me, when I am not around”.

Addressing a public meeting in Ladkui village, falling under his assembly constituency Budhni, Mr Chouhan said that he gave a new definition to politics in Madhya Pradesh by providing a government that truly cared for the people and always considered that he was not running the government but running a family.

“Have you ever seen such concern for the people by the previous Congress government? I do not run a government. I run a family. I changed the definition of politics in Madhya Pradesh by providing a government that cared for the people,” he said.

Mr Chouhan said that for him politics meant serving the people and ‘Serving the people for me is like worshipping the God”.

“You will not find a helpful brother like me,”he added.

Mr Chouhan said that people in Madhya Pradesh had seen the misrule of the previous Congress government.

He recounted how people suffered during the previous Congress government in the state due to bad road conditions, poor power supply and lack of drinking water provision.

Mr Chouhan said that he ensured better life for women and weaker sections of the society by launching various welfare schemes during his 18-year-rule in the state.

Congress on Monday saw in Mr Chouhan’s speech as an indication of his marginalisation by BJP.

“There are whispers in BJP that Mr Chouhan is facing marginalisation by his party. Now, Mr Chouhan has dropped hints about it by giving an emotional speech”, Congress spokesman K K Mishra said.

BJP has however accused Congress of misinterpreting Mr Chouhan’s speech.

“The chief minister was talking to his audience like his family members and hence, got emotional”, BJP spokesman Hitesh Vajpyee said.
