SANGAREDDY: As the Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Sangareddy, party leader Rahul Gandhi launched a tirade against the TRS and the BJP, accusing Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of killing democracy and benefiting only a few wealthy people.

Addressing a large audience on Shivampet Road, the Gandhi scion said, "TRS and BJP are two sides of the same coin. The PM and CM are one and the same, and they work the same. Rao is following Modi's lead by privatising education and healthcare."

“BHEL and BDL are the nation's assets, but Modi wants to privatise them. BHEL owns thousands of acres of valuable land across the country, these lands will be given to his wealthy friends.”

He said that when any Opposition party opposed the Bills passed by the BJP in Parliament, the TRS in the Lok Sabha supported the ruling prty, he said. “KCR reacts like a bulb when Modi presses a button to pass the Bills,” the Congress leader said.

Rahul Gandhi claimed that "both of them work in the interests of their friends and family." He said that particularly in Telangana, the Chief Minister was privatising the educational system while ignoring the amenities in the government schools, leaving the children vulnerable to state food.

He claimed that the GST and demonetisation of the Narendra Modi government were part of a calculated strategy to destroy small enterprises and reward industrialists. According to him, Modi introduced GST and demonetisation under the guise of unearthing black money, which caused thousands of small businesses to shut down and thousands of people to lose their jobs. “This instilled a sense of fear and uncertainty among the people,” he remarked.

To support his claim, Rahul Gandhi cited the collapse of the granite industry in Karimnagar and Khammam, which rendered four to five lakh workers jobless. "People from UP and Bihar used to come to these districts for their livelihood. Today, this industry has been destroyed. It is unfortunate that neither the state nor the central government helped the victims,” he said.

In Ballari in Karnataka, more than 4.5 lakh people had lost their jobs as a result of demonetisation and the GST, he said. "Modi will destroy small and medium-sized businesses wherever they are,” he remarked.

The Congress leader said that by lying about China invading Indian territory, Modi had insulted and dishonoured Col. Santosh Babu, who had died in battle with the Chinese forces in 2020. “If China did not encroach upon Indian territory, how did Santosh Babu become a martyr,” he questioned.

TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sangareddy MLA T. Jayaprakash  Reddy, former deputy CM C. Damodar Rajanarsimha, senior leaders V. Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Laxmaiah, Renuka Chowdary, Sangareddy DCC president Nirmala Goud and others were present.
