Tummala has just Rs 15 lakh of cash, says affidavit
Hyderabad: Tummala Nageswara Rao, the Congress candidate from Khammam and a former minister, has just Rs 15 lakh cash in hand, and his wife Bramaramba Rs 35 lakh, according to an election affidavit filed by him with the Election Commission.
Candidates are required to file a statement of the assets that they and their family members own, as well as liabilities and criminal cases. Any defect in the affidavit could lead to the rejection of their nomination.
According to the affidavit, Nageswara Rao’s primary source of income is pension and agriculture.
Nageswara Rao, who filed his nomination in Khammam on Friday, declared that his assets are worth Rs 69 lakh and his wife’s are valued at Rs 95 lakh. He declared that no case was registered against him and no case was pending before any court against him.
According to his latest income-tax returns, Nageswara Rao earned Rs 8.83 lakh. He has a four-wheeler and 400 grams of gold. He does not own agricultural land, but his wife has 12 acres at Nagupalli in Kothagudem.
He also stated that there were no pending issues with income-tax, GST and other agencies.
Congress candidate Ilaiah Beerla filed his nominations from Alair constituency and showed that an appeal of Rs 18 lakh related to dues is pending with the commissioner of income-tax.
On the first day of nominations, several candidates, including Errabelli Dayakar Rao's brother Errabelli Pradeep Rao from the BJP, filed nominations on Friday.
