Sanjay hits out at TRS MPs for ‘fake protests’
Sanjay questioned the state to why it was not procuring paddy produced in the Kharif season when the Centre assured to procure entire stock
HYDERABAD: Telangana state BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay raised slogans against TRS MPs who were trying to obstruct Parliament proceedings over the paddy purchase issue.
The Lok Sabha premises saw slogans and counter-slogans being raised on Thursday. Sanjay questioned the state government as to why it was not procuring paddy produced in the Kharif season when the Centre had assured that it would procure the entire stock.
The Telangana BJP president expressed concern over the state government’s indifferent attitude towards the issue and its refusal to make any decision while farmers were losing their lives.
Sanjay and BJP MP Soyam Bapu Rao were countering the slogans raised by the TRS MPs.
“Who told you that the Rabi crop would not be purchased by the Centre? When the Centre has assured that it would buy raw rice, what is the need to stage this drama?” Sanjay asked.
Further, he said, “When we ask why you are not procuring Kharif produce, you (the TRS MPs) raise the issue of Rabi crop. The deplorable condition of farmers cannot be allowed to worsen as their rice has started to germinate due to rains, and some are even taking their own lives. Sanjay expressed his displeasure and ridiculed the TRS MPs for their fake protest in the Parliament on Wednesday. He said they raised slogans and displayed placards near the canteen in the Parliament but the media was informed that they were protesting inside the Lok Sabha.
