YSRC mobilising people for Rayalaseema Garjana in Kurnool on Monday
ANANTAPUR: The YSRC is making elaborate arrangements for the Rayalaseema Garjana at Kurnool on Monday, December 5, and aiming to win maximum backing from the people of the region over the party’s plan to implement the decades-old Sribagh Pact.
The pact emphasized on decentralisation and the YSRC is currently pushing the cause for three capitals.
The ruling party wants to “expose” the TD and other opposition parties over their stand against the pact and their stress on having a single capital for the state in Amaravati. This, the YSRC, claims would do injustice to the other regions, especially the Rayalaseema.
The Rayalaseema Garjana will be held at Kurnool, formerly the capital of Andhra, which was sacrificed by the people for the formation of the united Andhra Pradesh with Hyderabad as capital.
The Jagan-led government wants to establish Kurnool as the judiciary capital in conformity with the Sribagh Pact, which had said either the capital or the high court should be in Rayalaseema region. The government, however, is facing legal challenges in this respect.
The Rayalaseema Garjana meeting will be held at the STBC College grounds.
Police inspected the college grounds and reviewed the arrangements along with the traffic diversion. They also inspected the parking places and public meeting venue to ensure space and safety for the meet. The college ground, the roads along Sunkesula, APSP 2nd Battalion, Medical College, Zilla Parishad, Exhibition Grounds etc were inspected to avoid traffic interruption.
In Kadapa, deputy chief minister Amzad Bhasha and minister A Suresh released posters of Rayalaseema Garjana. Also present were MLAs Raghurami Reddy and K Srinivasulu and ZP chairman A Amarnath Reddy.
