KAKINADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the opposition parties of dividing and splitting families by playing opportunistic politics.

“People should be alert about such games of the opposition parties,” he said here while releasing the enhanced welfare pensions  --from Rs 2750 to Rs 3,000 each -- from January. Addressing a huge gathering, Jagan Reddy said Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan were approaching the people on election eve with false promises.

“Your Jagan doesn’t know the art of telling lies, hatching conspiracies and playing politics. Jagan only knows how to do good to the people, in particular the poor. In the coming days, the opposition parties will come to the people by forging more alliances and false promises. They would claim to distribute a kilo of gold or a Benz car to every house. They will be hatching more conspiracies and plots to split families. I urge the people to be aware of such games. You know how the Telugu Desam cheated the people previously by not fulfilling its promises,’’ the CM said.

He said, “I believe only in God and the people and am seeking their blessings.”
“Chandrababu and the Telugu Desam party looted the public money. The Income Tax Department, the Enforcement Directorate and other financial institutions have found that Chandrababu Naidu is a corrupt leader. Courts summoned him. Naidu was arrested and sent to jail. But, the adopted son (Datta putrudu-Pawan Kalyan) went to the jail and consoled Naidu and forged an alliance between his JS and the TD.”

Jagan Reddy said, “The YSRC government has given house sites to 31 lakh families. Out of these, 22  lakh beneficiaries are constructing their houses. There is no corruption of a single rupee in the allotment of house sites or grant of benefits of other government schemes. But Pawan Kalyan complained to the central government that there was corruption in the housing sites distribution scheme.”

The chief minister said though Chandrababu “looted the people,” Pawan Kalyan kept silent. “During the Telugu Desam rule, Chandrababu Naidu did not introduce welfare schemes like Amma Vodi, Rythu Bharosa, YSR Asara, YSR Cheyutha etc. Jagan is implementing several welfare schemes by pressing buttons and directly crediting the amounts to the accounts of the beneficiaries. We are doing these with the same budget and same loans of the government, which Naidu did not make use of.”

He noted that, previously, old-age people and other beneficiaries of welfare pension schemes used to wait for days together in queues to get their pension amounts. "Today the situation has changed dramatically. There is no queue, and the beneficiaries are getting their pension at their doorsteps on 1st of every month."
