Supporters of Nani and his brother Chinni clash during TD-JS coordination meeting
Vijayawada: A clash occurred between supporters of parliamentarian Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani and TD Vijayawada parliament incharge Kesineni Srinath alias Chinni, the brother of Nani, at Tiruvuru.
The coordination committee meeting of TD and Jana Sena was cancelled due to clashes between the Nani and Chinni groups.
The two groups clashed ahead of TD chief Chandrababu Naidu's public meeting in Tiruvuru assembly constituency on January 7.
In view of Naidu's public meeting, a coordination meeting was arranged at Tiruvuru on Wednesday between the TD and Jana Sena.
During the meeting, the rift between the Kesineni brothers arose again. Notably, Kesineni Chinni too came to the party office to attend the coordination meeting. The followers of the Vijayawada MP objected to his presence and blocked his way. This led to a confrontation between the rival groups of Kesineni brothers.
The two groups started fighting and throwing furniture at each other. They also attacked policemen who tried to control them. Sub-inspector Satish was injured and taken to a hospital.
The flex banner for the meeting featured the photo of Kesineni Chinni, but the photo of brother Kesineni Nani was missing. This angered the followers of Nani, who tore the banner displaying Chinni's photo.
The group clash disappointed Jana Sena activists as the photo of their leader, Pawan Kalyan, was also printed on the banner. They expressed their disapproval and boycotted the meeting.
The Nani group also attacked the Tiruvuru in- charge of the party, Deva Dutt. Chinni was not allowed to enter the party premises, but he staged a protest along with the party's senior leader Nagul Meera against the rival group's behaviour. Eventually, the coordination meeting ended without any talks.
Kesineni Nani made allegations against Devadutt. He urged the party leadership to change the in-charge post from Deva Dutt, as he was “unfit”. He questioned the presence of Kesineni Chinni and asked, "Who is he, what is his role in the party?"
MP Nani said he would stay in Tiruvuru until Chandrababu's public meeting was successfully conducted.
