Karnataka: A cordial namaskara amid the polls
Seeing the BJP leader, the people began to raised slogans in his favour and even took selfies with him.
Mysuru: They may be bitter political rivals, but this does not stop Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and state BJP chief, B S Yeddyurappa from being civil to each other.
While both men are going hammer and tongs against each other in their campaign for the Nanjangud and Gundlupet byelections scheduled for Sunday, they are clearly not letting it spill over into their personal equations.
Far from ignoring each other, the two took pains to acknowledge the other when their paths accidentally crossed while campaigning in Gundlupet constituency on Monday. It happened while Mr Yeddyurappa was returning to Nanjangud after attending a public meeting in Gundlupet town and Mr Siddaramaiah was holding a road show near the Begur check post in support of his party candidate, Geeta Mahadevaprasad.
As people had gathered on the roadside to see the Chief Minister , the traffic was held up , forcing Mr Yeddyurappa's car to slow down. Seeing the BJP leader, the people began to raised slogans in his favour and even took selfies with him.
On spotting the Chief Minister nearby, Mr Yeddyurappa greeted him with a 'namaskara'. Mr Siddaramaiah missed seeing it ,but on being alerted by other Congress leaders, quickly downed the glass of his car window and reciprocated with a namaskara of his own. The two men then went their separate ways, but not before showing that rivals can still be friends.
