Congress to cash in on Modi ‘insult’
I.C. Balakrishnan said that all the three legislative seats in Wayanad district were won by Hindu candidates during the last many decades.
Kozhikode: The Congress has vowed to expose the true colours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has alleged that Rahul Gandhi had run away to Kerala to escape from the majority community. “He has insulted not only Wayanad, but also Kerala,” AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal told reporters here on Wednesday.
Modi had told a rally in Maharashtra the other day that the Congress chief was forced to run away from a majority community seat to a minority constituency, in a veiled attack on Rahul’s second candidature in Wayanad.
“Nobody can correct Modi,” Venugopal said. The Congress leaders of Wayanad have also flayed Modi’s allegations.
Among the seven Assembly segments of Wayanad Parliament constituency that covers parts of Kozhikode and Malappuram also, four were won by Hindu candidates in the 2014 elections, two from Malappuram by Muslims and one from Kozhikode by a Christian. Wayanad DCC president I.C. Balakrishnan said that all the three legislative seats in Wayanad district were won by Hindu candidates during the last many decades. “There have been no such communal feelings among the voters so far,” he said and added, “Modi is trying to pump hatred into the minds of voters to create a division.”
