Kerala: Techies jump on to poll bandwagon
A. Sivasankar, another techie, has developed the website for A.N. Shamseer, LDF candidate in Thalassery.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A section of techies in Technopark, especially political enthusiasts, is playing key roles in making the electioneering go online. Developing websites, maintaining the social media platforms and enabling live webcasting are the voluntary services being offered by them.
“Owing to our work timings, it is not possible for us to be part of the election campaign. Hence we are supporting candidates of our liking by providing online support,” said Zafeer Ameer, a Technopark employee who developed - 'www.dkmurali.com' -the website for LDF candidate in Vamanapuram, D.K. Murali.
A. Sivasankar, another techie, has developed the website for A.N. Shamseer, LDF candidate in Thalassery. “Youths constitute a decisive chunk of voters and most of them are having access to internet. Hence we think that online campaigns could make an impact on the elections,” said Sivasankar, who developed 'www.anshamseer.com'.
It is their political enthusiasm that prompted Zafeer and Sivasankar to offer the voluntary services. Both of them were active in student politics. “Earlier I used to take part in election campaigns at local level. But now owing to my job, I can't participate in the campaign. Hence I decided to be part of the campaign by developing the website for Murali,” said Zafeer, who hails from Vamanapuram.
