Bengaluru: Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his attack on the Karnataka government, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, who could not get prime-time TV slots to counter him, took to social media to take potshots at him on Thursday.

By afternoon, he had  made five tweets against the Prime Minister, the first of which read, "Mr. Modi is facing an emergency situation in Karnataka as his party is staring at defeat. So, he is hoping for political gain by looking at the past. Since you are looking back, please also look at the coffin scam: your party made money while buying coffins for our martyrs."

Another tweet said, "Dear PM Modi, as you arrive in Ballari, we look forward to hearing your commentary on corruption. Don't forget to mention the Reddys' record scam score of 35,000 cr & still not out. With star players like Yeddy-Reddy, your score in Karnataka will be well short of 60."

Responding to Mr Modi's charge that the Congress party had shown disrespect to Sardar Vallabhabhai Patil and Field Marshal, K.M. Cariappa, he tweeted, "Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa is a revered son of Karnataka and we hold him in high esteem. Instead of doing politics in his name Mr. Modi should list five things he has done for Karnataka."

Addressing the PM directly, one tweet sought to know, “When are you giving approval for the Kannada flag? Will you change the rules for banking recruitment and make Kannada compulsory for banking jobs in Karnataka, will you intervene in the Mahadayi issue?, Will you do justice to Karnataka and revise our SDRF allocation?, Will you stop disinvestment of Bengaluru's jewel, BEML?, Will you rectify the injustice done to Bengaluru by depriving HAL of the Rafale deal? The list is so long. But for you to address these issues you need to care for our state. But you are in Karnataka just to win at all costs."

As for Mr Modi's remarks on the state's mining policy, he tweeted. “Mr Modi ji, mining policy is framed by the Centre and rules, by the state. Karnataka's Mineral Rules are a model for the country. We have successfully conducted e-auction of mines and are earning revenue for the govt.

Earlier, under the BJP government here, your friends, the Reddys, used to earn, not the government!” Siddaramaiah flayed Adityanath for being in Karnataka for electioneering when 64 people lost their lives due to a storm in UP. "My heartfelt condolences to the families, who have lost their loved ones (due to storm in UP). I am sorry your CM is needed here in Karnataka. I am sure he will return soon &" attend to his work there," Siddaramaiah said.
