Doubts linger on what led to Jayalalithaa’s death: MK Stalin
Stalin said the doubts were not first raised by him.
Madurai: The DMK president M K Stalin on Friday said people of Tamil Nadu have good reasons to believe that there was "some mystery" surrounding the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's death, which has angered the traditional women voters of the AIADMK.
"Both here and in Ottapidaram, women came up to me to say that they had in the past been voting for 'Two leaves' as they considered 'Amma' (Ms Jayalalithaa) as their Goddess who would take care of them, but now we will vote for 'Rising Sun', the DMK's symbol after what the AIADMK leaders have done to her," Stalin said campaigning for the DMK candidate Dr Saravanan for the May 19 Assembly bypoll from Thiruparankundram near Madurai.
Concurring with the people's sentiments about "doubts lingering of a mystery behind Jayalalithaa's demise", Mr. Stalin said the doubts were not first raised by him. It was flagged by none other than one of Ms. Jayalalithaa's most trusted ministers and now Deputy CM, Mr. O. Pannerselvam who had demanded a CBI probe into the hospitalization and subsequent death of former AIADMK leader.
It was only after Pannerselvam's demand that the Justice Arumugaswamy Commission was constituted, which was also non-serious, alleged Mr. Stalin. Though the Commission had summoned Mr. Pannerselvam six times so far to appear before it, he had not responded to the summons, the DMK leader said and charged that it only strengthened the doubts people had about Jayalalithaa's death. "Jayalalithaa was a woman and there is no security for women in Tamil Nadu," Stalin taunted, also adverting to the recent Pollachi sex scam.
Reiterating that both the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre and the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led AIADMK regime in Tamil Nadu should go for their anti-people policies, Stalin said the DMK candidate for Thiruparankundram had already won a moral victory with the Madras High Court having set aside the election of the late AIADMK MLA, A. K. Bose. The 'thumb impression' of Ms Jayalalithaa obtained when she was in Apollo hospital by the AIADMK functionaries in the authorization form for Bose's candidature was not found to be in order and "they (AIADMK) have committed a fraud", charged Stalin.
"They all became MPs, MLAs and even Ministers because of Ms Jayalalithaa, but they couldn't care less for her and people should teach the AIADMK government, which even denied six feet of land on the Marina to lay to rest DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, a lesson," extolled Stalin, seeking votes for the DMK candidate.
