HYDERABAD: State BJP chief and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has said former Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is welcome to the BJP. “All those who are opposing the dictatorial rule of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and seeking to protect democracy are welcome to join the BJP,” he said.

Addressing the media, Sanjay Kumar dismissed reports that he was having differences with Huzurabad MLA Etala Rajendar. “BJP leaders are working with the single aim of dethroning KCR from the CM post and establishing Rama Rajyam in the state,” he claimed.

When it was pointed out to him that Rajendar and other BJP leaders were meeting several prominent non-BJP leaders in the state and inviting them to join the saffron party, Bandi Sanjay said, “There is nothing wrong in it.”

When word came to him that panchayat secretaries were staging a dharna in front of the collectorate seeking their regularisation in service, Sanjay Kumar went to them and extended his support to the dharna.

Speaking to the media later, Sanjay Kumarclarified that ever since his phone was missing, he was not aware as to which all BJP leaders were meeting those like former MP Srinivas Reddy in Khammam to invite them to join the BJP.

He said, “The people of Telangana believe that the BJP can defeat the BRS in the state. The people also know that if they vote for the Congress, that vote will go to the BRS party since many leaders who won on the Congress ticket had shifted their loyalty to the BRS.”

He alleged that Chandrashekar Rao was also funding the Congress to defeat the BJP in the Karnataka Assembly elections. “Earlier, KCR said the BRS would support the JDS in the elections but he now supports the Congress indirectly by providing it with funds from his ill-gotten stocks.

Sanjay Kumar said the Congress’ promise to ban Bajrang Dal has changed the political equations in Karnataka and the BJP would register a landslide victory in the Assembly elections.

Speaking about the panchayat secretaries’ indefinite strike, Sanjay Kumar alleged that Chandrashekar Rao betrayed junior panchayat secretaries by promising them he would regularise them after a probation period of four years. “Because of the stress and strain in their work, many panchayat secretaries have ended their lives,” he said.
