Corporator sustains burns in protest rally against YSRC chief in Vijayawada

The TD leaders staged protest in the city against Mr Jagan's comments on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Vijayawada: Ruling TD leader and eighth division corporator Jasti Sambasiva Rao sustained severe burn injuries during a protest rally against opposition YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in Vijayawada on Friday.

The doctors confirmed that at least 25 per cent of the leader’s body was burnt. At the same time, the doctors maintained that there was no threat to his life but he has to undergo medical treatment and surgery.

The TD leaders staged protest in the city against Mr Jagan’s comments on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The TD leaders burnt the effigies of Mr Jagan during the protest. While burning the effigies, Mr Sambasiva Rao was caught in the fire and sustained severe burns.

As soon as his body burnt, the rank and file of the TD and the police rushed him to Ramesh Hospital in Vijayawada city.

Dr Subba Reddy  explained that about 25 per cent of the body was burnt during the protest. He explained that there was no threat to the life of the corporator. Dr Subba Reddy said that Mr Sambasiva Rao had to be in the hospital for at least 10 days to recover.

Meanwhile, the corporator’s relative Manmadha Rao said that they did not get clarity on the condition of the corporator. The family members, relatives and party cadre hoped that the corporator would recover soon. Corporator Chennupati Gandhi said that as per information provided by the doctors, Mr Sambasiva Rao would recover soon.
