Former MP N Peethambara Kurup to be queried on Puttingal temple tragedy

Mr. Kurup had given assurances to the temple authorities that he would get the permission to conduct competitive fireworks.

KOLLAM: Congress leader  and former MP  N. Peethambara Kurup will be questioned by the central inquiry team on Saturday in connection with the Puttingal temple tragedy. Mr. Kurup had given assurances  to the temple authorities that he would get the permission to conduct competitive fireworks. This was stated by the temple authorities  in a sitting with the central team.

The festival committee secretary Krishnan had earlier given a statement about the involvement of  Mr  Kurup in securing permission for the fireworks.   The temple authorities had also expressed their gratitude to Mr. Kurup   hours before the fireworks started by announcing it through the loudspeaker, according to the statement given by chief announcer Kunjumon from Poothakkulam. The district administration had earlier denied permission to conduct competitive fireworks  and Mr. Kurup allegedly intervened to get  the permission.
