Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa said in the Assembly on Friday. “AIADMK bears Anna’s name in the party flag and in the party’s name. We assure that we will follow M. G. Ramachandran’s footsteps in ensuring democratic values in the Assembly. At the same time, the Opposition parties should ensure that they carry out their duties responsibly and raise issues that help the people of the state.

The Chief Minister also gave an assurance that the government would respect the views of the Opposition based on the manner in which they reflect people’s views on the floor of the Assembly.  “There is a situation in the Assembly where many parties have not been represented.

Hence, the party which is in power and those in Opposition benches have greater responsibility of working for the betterment of the people,” she said, thanking people of Tamil Nadu for returning her party to power for a second straight term. The Opposition bloc in Tamil Nadu will be stronger in the 15th Assembly since the DMK has 89 MLAs, Congress 8 and IUML one.
