The Supreme Court on Friday stayed Rahul Gandhi's conviction in defamation case in Modu surname case. The verdict also restored the Senior leader's status as Lok Sabha MP.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor called the SC order the “first steps towards justice in an unjust case.”

Rahul Gandhi can now return to Parliament from Monday. However, the Lok Sabha secretariat has to issue a notice stating his suspension from the Lok Sabha has been removed following the Supreme court decision.
