Uma Bharti Hints at staying away from BJP's poll campaign in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Uma Bharti on Tuesday indicated that she was not keen to contest either in the year-end assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh or the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Ms Bharti also hinted at staying away from the party’s electioneering in the ensuing assembly elections in the state.
“Some media have started speculating that I may contest in the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. I appeal to them not to entertain any speculative report regarding my joining the fray either in coming assembly or LS polls”, she said in a post in X (formerly Twitter).
In another tweet, Ms Bharti said that she had planned to go on a pilgrimage to Kedarnath and Himalaya last year. Her pilgrimage plan could not materialise since she was busy campaigning for prohibition in Madhya Pradesh last year.
Hence, she is now eager to visit Himalayas during the month of ‘Karthik’ (November-December) for spiritual purpose, she said indicating that she might not campaign for the party in the ensuing assembly elections in the state.
The BJP leader however said that the decision by the party leadership to field Central ministers and MPs in the assembly elections in the state would pay rich dividends for BJP in the polls, as these leaders would be able to create a wave in favour of the party in their periphery assembly seats in the elections.
“I fully support such a decision by the party”, she said.
