Hyderabad: The BJP on Sunday accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of manipulating facts for personal gains on the RTC employees strike. BJP chief spokesperson K. Krishna Saagar Rao said the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019 had no reference to transport corporations and that it recommends privatization of RTC.

“The Chief Minister has blatantly lied to divert the attention and shift the blame. The RTC Act of 1950 supersedes all Acts in reference to administering the Corporation across India. It has clearly, in its provisions, given full responsibility to the state government to appoint a management to administer the Corporation. RTC can’t be run by the state government directly and under the provisions of RTC Act of 1950, no state government can liquidate the RTC without the approval of the Centre.”
