Hyderabad: Unemployed youths from Kamareddy — the constituency from which Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will contest the Assembly elections, in addition to Gajwel — have signed up to contest the polls as independent candidates in a sign of protest over Rao’s alleged failure in filling up government jobs.

Eight have filed their nominations and submitted their affidavits over the past two days. They are Nikhil Reddy, Ch Nataraja, Chandra Sekhar Chalika, Ramesh Kumar Chalika, Chittiboena Sulochana Rani, Arrolla Naresh, Venkanna Guguloth and Santhish Kumar.

In a similar move in Gajwel, three independent candidates filed nominations.
Political sources said that the number of candidates in Kamareddy is likely to increase significantly as all unemployed youths are planning to sign up for the polls.

Bellampuram Santhish Kumar, who has filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Kamareddy, said: “I am an unemployed youth. My native is Zaheerabad and I came to Hyderabad 15 years ago. I did higher education and prepared for all competitive exams. All exams conducted by the government were improperly done. To express my anger, I filed my nomination.”
