Karnataka: BJP criticizes Siddaramaiah\'s focus on political maneuvering

Vijayapura: BJP State President, Nalin Kumar Kateel, expressed anger over CM Siddaramaiah's focus on political maneuvering rather than prioritizing the welfare of farmers during the severe drought affecting the state.

Various teams from the BJP, led by different party leaders, have embarked on visits to the drought-affected areas to assess the situation. Nalin Kumar Kateel led a delegation to Vijayapura on Saturday as part of these efforts.
"The CM seems more preoccupied with securing his position than safeguarding the interests of our farmers. The survival of his political career hinges on how well he addresses the farmers' plight. Neglecting their needs could have dire consequences for his chair," Nalin told reporters.

"Siddaramaiah was seen dancing in a program at Hampi. A leader should feel the pain of the people, especially during such dire times. Instead of displaying empathy and understanding the plight of our people, he appears to be dismissive and focused on maintaining his political power," Nalin asserted.
He also criticized Siddaramaiah's call for BJP MPs to schedule a meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss drought-related matters.

"Siddaramaiah's inability to effectively govern is evident. As a two-time chief minister and his role as finance minister, he falls short. NDRF has established guidelines for fund disbursement. In the past, during floods, the then CM Yediyurappa has provided relief without waiting for central assistance. In this drought, aid will be surely coming from the Centre following established guidelines. It is Siddaramaiah's responsibility to promptly allocate relief funds immediately. Utilizing the available NDRF funds with district commissioners should suffice," Nalin stated.

He accused Siddaramaiah of exploiting the drought issue for political gain.
"The severity of the drought is undeniable. During Siddaramaiah's previous term, over 4,000 farmers took their own lives. This time in Vijayapura alone, 18 farmers have committed suicide," he said.

Nalin claimed that no compensation has been provided to the families of these farmers.
