Shiv Sena sit-in against Trupti entry to Sabarimala temple
Government had already made it clear that she had to wait till the Supreme Court gives its verdict.
Kollam: Shiv Sena will organise a sit-in and hunger strike before the Pathanamthitta Collectorate on Thursday against allowing gender equality activist Trupti Desai to enter Sabarimala temple.
The Sena justifies the ban as part of respecting women - as climbing the Karimala and Neelimala to enter Sannidhanam would affect their physique and health.
“The government should take action against those trying to create unrest by initiating such tendencies. The women (of fertile age) could not observe 41 days of fast which is mandatory to climb Sabarimala," said Shiv Sena spokesperson Pallikkal Sunil.
"Their biological functioning also makes them impure. Climbing the hills will affect their physique and health and hence the ban on women at Sabarimala should be seen as a sign of respect to womanhood.”
The district collector who is also the district magistrate, he said, should ensure the prevention of Ms Desai from entering the abode of Lord Ayyappa.
