BENGALURU: With BJP president Amit Shah set to chair the next round of discussions with party cadre here on January 9, leaders of the state unit raced ahead with pre-poll preparations, including appointment of ‘Page Pramukh’ at each booth, on Thursday.

Sources in the party said office bearers of the district and taluk units have been tasked with appointment of ‘Page Pramukh’ to take care of each page of the voters’ list at the earliest.

Meanwhile, general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Muralidhar Rao, has chaired a meeting with party pramukhs of neighboring Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, and requested leaders of neighboring states to extend their support, co-operation and assistance to the state unit during forthcoming Assembly elections. Leaders of these state units have been urged to woo voters in border areas and to ensure that they vote for BJP, sources added.

During his previous visit, Mr. Shah had instructed party MLAs to go to their home constituencies and launch electioneering.  He had also instructed each MLA to provide progress report about pre-poll preparations in their respective constituencies and their contribution to win the seat in neighbouring Assembly constituency.

Therefore, party MLAs are busy touring their Assembly constituencies, remarked a senior leader, adding that even defeated candidates were asked to go their constituencies. With regard to strengthening of party’s base in old Mysuru region, state leadership has authorized Channapatna MLA C.P. Yogeshwar to induct potential leaders from Congress and JD(S).
