Chennai: Taking strong exception to the remarks of Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan that the AIADMK is 'in ruins', AIADMK treasurer Dindigul C. Seenivasan on Saturday said his party would defeat all the challenges as it had done in the past.

Radhakrishnan could say that his party is growing and no one would oppose it, but he should not spread imaginary views on the Dravidian movement. In an apparent dig at the BJP, he said the AIADMK is beyond religion, caste, race or language and the AIADMK continues to be weapon of all sections of people.

The Dravidian movement was founded by leaders like E.V.R. Periyar, Anna, MGR and Jayalalithaa who were dedicated to social justice, he said and asserted that the sentiments sown by Periyar would not disappear from the hearts of Tamil people.

Some people are trying to create disturbances and it not fair on the part of Radhakrishnan to say that the AIADMK is in ruins. "We have seen several such challenges and defeated them. AIADMk will always win and live in people's hearts", he added. The AIADMK would continue to march successfully under the leadership of its general secretary V.K. Sasikala, he asserted.

OPS rejects mins' claim to have met Jayalalithaa during treatment

Rejecting contentions by three AIADMK ministers that they had met former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa while she was being treated in the Apollo hospitals, former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam said their statements are false.

He said no one had been permitted to meet Jayalalithaa and said the remarks of minister K.A. Sengottaiyan that she ate sweets after the by-election victories to the three constituencies was a ‘big lie’. He also said the claim of minister Dindigul C. Seenivasan that she lifted her hands to show the ‘two leaves’ symbol is a ‘bigger lie’. He also rejected the claim of health minister C. Vijayabaskar to have met Jayalalithaa.

Panneerselvam said such claims would increase people’s resentment on Sasikala and her supporters. He also lauded former minister Semmalai and said he had refused to take three crores and three kilograms of gold to join hands with the Sasikala camp.
