Opposition trying to politicise cauvery issue: Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan
There is no need for the Prime Minister to deny an opportunity to meet political leaders from TN or ignore issues concerning Tamil Nadu.
CHENNAI: Accusing the opposition DMK of trying to gain political mileage on the Cauvery issue, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has charged that DMK working president M.K. Stalin lacked the guts to ask his party MPs to resign.
“DMK is politicising the Cauvery issue. Stalin is talking as if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not keen on meeting political leaders from Tamil Nadu and he is trying to tarnish the image of Mr Modi. If he has the guts let him ask his party MPs to resign rather asking the ruling AIADMK to support him on the issue,” she said.
Wondering whether Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke to his Tamil Nadu counterpart on the issue or convened all-party meeting in his State, Dr Tamilisai sought to know what had prevented DMK or its ally the Congress to resolve the issue when they shared power.
“There is no need for the Prime Minister to deny an opportunity to meet political leaders from TN or ignore issues concerning Tamil Nadu. It is DMK’s ploy to tarnish the image of Mr Modi and BJP,” she added. Meanwhile, BJP national secretary H. Raja told reporters in Tiruvarur in the State that Stalin had uttered a lie that the PM refuses to meet TN leaders. “He should apologise to the people for his party’s deceit on Cauvery issue,” Mr Raja said.
