Similarly, people of Thennathiraiyaanpatti village in Pudukkottai district also decided to boycott the April 18 Lok Sabha polls.
Tiruchy: Residents of over 40 residential localities between Palpannai to suburb Thuvakkudi on the Tiruchy-Thanjavur national highway decided to boycott April 18 Lok Sabha elections, in protesting against both the Tiruchy district administration and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)'s failure to lay a service road between Palpannai and Thuvakkudi despite their repeated agitations since 2014.
Announcing this at a press conference here, coordinator of the service road struggle committee federation, Mr. Subramanian pointed out that despite the State government having gazetted the notification for land acquisition for the service road, the district administration did not show any interest in taking it forward. So they were constrained to boycott the April 18 elections, he added.
Similarly, people of Thennathiraiyaanpatti village in Pudukkottai district also decided to boycott the April 18 Lok Sabha polls, protesting against the ill-treatment by their village administrative officer (VAO) Ms. Mythili and her assistant Murugasen.
The people alleged that due to the VAO's indifferent attitude, they did not get the benefit of crop insurance coverage for last year and also in the recent Gaja cyclone relief so far.
