Ramanathapuram: Campaigning for the DMK's ally, the IUML in the Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituency, Udayanidhi Stalin, son of DMK president, M K Stalin appealed to the electorate to use the opportunity of the April 18 elections to "defeat" the BJP for the unilateral demonetization of high value currencies done by Prime Minister Modi in November 2016.

The demonetization led to untold suffering among the common people, bringing thousands of them to the streets and made them waiting at empty ATMs', Udayanidhi said. The hasty implementation of GST has resulted in ten crore people in the small and medium industries losing their jobs and for these reasons, people should vote back the DMK-Congress alliance, urged Udaynidhi.

The Government in Tamil Nadu was simply being 'subservient' to the Centre, he alleged, campaigning for the IUML candidate, Nawaz Ghani and the DMK candidate Sampathkumar for the Paramakudi Assembly by-poll.
