ADILABAD: Some senior BRS MLAs are facing allegations of involvement in illegal activities and of making huge wealth through corrupt practices in the erstwhile Adilabad district.

These MLAs, who had won polls more than once, are aspiring for ministerial berths in the next Cabinet – that is if the BRS retains power.

MLAs Ajmeera Rekha Naik of Khanapur, Rathod Bapurao of Boath and Durgam Chinnaiah of Bellampalli have been facing allegations of corruption, involvement in land grabbing and bribe-taking from beneficiaries of welfare schemes and in relation to real estate ventures. These MLAs have refuted the allegations by saying they were part of the political conspiracies of their opponents.

However, their conversations as heard from alleged audio recordings, and threats held out to the opponents and government officials for not supporting their activities, have gone viral on social media. The audio recordings also contained ‘proof’ of their involvement in the real estate deals.

Notably, there are many BRS ticket aspirants in these Assembly constituencies. Senior leaders and former MLAs and MPs are also lobbying for party tickets.
