Vote for development, not corruption, says Amit Shah
Shah said in the last 50 years, if the people have been upset with AIADMK government, they have voted for DMK.
Tenkasi/Pattukottai: “The voters of Tamil Nadu have to decide in these Assembly polls if they wish to continue with politics of corruption and nepotism or they want to move to politics of development. The other three parties in the fray — be it AIADMK, DMK or the Congress — have corruption cases against their leaders and they have been exploiting the state’s citizens. On the other hand, it has been two years since BJP government has been in power at the Centre but there is not even one allegation of corruption,” BJP president Amit Shah said at election rallies in Tenkasi and Pattukottai.
Shah said in the last 50 years, if the people have been upset with AIADMK government, they have voted for DMK and if they have been unhappy with DMK, they have chosen AIADMK.
“The voters of Tamil Nadu have not voted to elect a new government but they have primarily voted to oust the old government. There is no difference between the DMK and AIADMK. Both parties are corrupt, they have caused immense loss to Tamil Nadu and pulled down the state’s demographic graph,” he said.
Noting that the nation’s voters gave a “new direction” to the country’s politics in giving a clear majority to Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Shah said a “similar” change is needed in Tamil Nadu and instead of replacing AIADMK with the DMK, people should elect a good government. “I urge the state’s voters to give one opportunity to BJP led NDA coalition,” he said.
Noting that Tamil Nadu used to be “way ahead” of other states but now has slipped as voters continue to elect either AIADMK or DMK, Shah said if NDA forms the government in the state, it will solve a lot of problems.
He noted that during the Chennai floods, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an aerial survey of the affected places and ordered release of financial assistance of Rs 2,000 crore.
“Instead of utilising the funds for rebuilding infrastructure and other facilities, the AIADMK government issued cheques to people in the name of Amma The Modi government sends rice costing Rs 27 per kilogram at Rs 3 per kg for people of TN but Amma repackages it and sells it at Rs 2 per kg as Amma chawal,” Shah said.
