Congress to replicate Jamkhandi strategy in Kundgol, Chincholi
The Congress will deploy one minister each for every zilla panchayat in the two Assembly constituencies.
Hubballi: The Congress party is adopting the successful strategy it had used in the Jamkhandi bypoll for the coming Kundagol and Chincholi byelections to help its candidates' performance.
At a recent meeting attended by KPCC president, Dinesh Gundurao, Deputy Chief Minister, G Parameshwar and other leaders of the party, it was decided to deploy one minister each for every zilla panchayat in these Assembly constituencies.
He will be supported by a team of 20 to 25 former legislators, district office-bearers and leaders from different castes to woo the various communities, especially the Lingayats, Muslims and Kurubas, who are the deciding factor in these assembly constituencies. Each member of the team will be assigned 10 households for the campaign that will focus on the achievements of the Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah governments.
Meanwhile, every Congress legislator will be in charge of each taluk panchayat in the constituencies going to the polls.
“We have given various responsibilities to the ministers, legislators and office-bearers of the party. We will win both Kundagol and Chincholi by-elections by highlighting the achievements of the coalition government and the failures of the Centre. We will inform people that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is himself helping Operation Lotus,” Mr Gundurao said.
Dr Parameshwar, for his part, said the seven phased Lok Sabha poll was coming in the way of the functioning of the state governments.
“Elections were held in one or two phases even when ballot papers were used. And now they are being held over two months using electronic voting machines,” he regretted.
