RTC staff refrain from joining JAC
Hyderabad: TSRTC employees are thinking twice before joining the joint action committee (JAC) of unions in the corporation. Major unions have refrained from signing on. The RTC has three major groups which look for traction among the employees.
RTC employees were locking horns with the government, but at the time of the Munugode byelection of November 2023 the JAC joined hands with the ruling party and urged the voters to cast their votes for the BRS. The JAC leaders explained that soon after the byelection, the government would resolve their issues and meet their demands. Six months later, there is no sign of that.
The JAC has remained silent on the demands. Incidentally, it had led the 52-day employees strike of 2019.
Some employees said that the JAC was becoming active ahead of the state elections that are scheduled to be held at the end of the year. It is believed that the nearly 45,000 families of the TSRTC could make a huge impact on election results.
Unions leaders were tight-lipped on joining in the JAC.
