Bengaluru: In a statement which sent shock waves through the Congress, Mr D.K. Shivakumar’s mother, Gauramma told a TV channel that CM Siddaramaiah did not make any attempt to question the I-T department over the raids. “He got work done by my sons (D.K. Suresh and Shivakumar) and now he finished them in the nick of time.” Asked if she suspected Siddaramaiah’s role behind the I-T raid, Ms Gauramma replied, “Might be possible, might be.”

Accusing CM Siddaramaiah of merely paying lip sympathy to her son,  Energy Minister, D.K. Shivakumar's  mother, Gauramma on Friday came down hard on him for not doing enough to stop the I-T raids on his houses and business establishments.

Speaking to a vernacular television channel she said it was even possible that Mr Siddaramaiah was himself behind the raids.  "May be possible, may be. Instead of merely paying lip sympathy he should have strongly fought with the I-T department," she said when asked if she suspected Siddaramaiah's role in the I-T raids .

"He got work done from my sons (D.K. Suresh and  Shivakumar) and now he has finished them in the nick of time. People say he has come out with the Anna Bhagya and Ksheera Bhagya schemes. But did he give from his own pocket? Let others do the kind of work my sons have done. Who stopped them? If they had done such work, the country would have prospered."

Hours after her statement  Mr Siddaramaiah said the raids were politically motivated and condemned the BJP's tactics to use the I-T department to attack Congress leaders. When his attention was drawn to the statement by Mr Shivakumar's mother, he refused to react.
