At present, the Congress has six MLAs. To avoid disqualification under the anti-defection Act, Mr Rajagopal Reddy requires four MLAs to defect with him else he will face disqualification.

Mr Rajagopal Reddy is in touch with Congress MLAs T Jaya Prakash Reddy, Podem Veeraiah and Dasari Anasuya alias Seethakka. All these MLAs have denied several times that they are leaving the Congress.

In the recent assembly elections, Congress won 19 seats but later 12 of its MLAs joined the TRS.

TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned as Huzurnagar MLA after he got elected as MP from Nalgonda so now the Congress has six MLAs, including Rajago-pal Reddy, and to avoid disqualification, two-thirds of the total MLAs of a party have to defect. If three more MLAs defect along with Rajagopal Reddy, there will be no disqualification of any one. The TPCC is confident that no MLA will leave the Congress except Rajagopal Reddy.
