Leaders tightlipped over AICC prez poll
HYDERABAD: State Congress leaders are tight-lipped after the AICC barred all the party functionaries from openly backing any candidate in the upcoming presidential poll.
A day after PCC chief A Revanth Reddy indirectly backed candidate Mallikarjun Kharge by saying he has ‘no difference of opinion’ with CLP leader, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who has done this, other leaders tried to avert all questions on the poll.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, PCC working president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud acknowledged that Kharge’s name was making the rounds but stressed that this being a democratic process, it was up to the voters to decide.
PCC senior vice president, G. Niranjan, said the AICC directive should be respected. “Functionaries can only act as facilitators for the PCC delegates to get information related to the election process and they should not suggest names.”
