Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan will hold a high-level meeting with top officials of Medical & Health department at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

The Governor, a doctor herself, wants the state to become “Arogya Telangana”. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) discussed about the schemes in the Medical & Health department when he met her recently.

According to officials, the Governor is very particular over the health care of middle-class people. Although, the Arogyasri scheme is benefitting poor people, there is no such government scheme exclusively for the middle class.

Meanwhile, the State government is not implementing the Union Government’s Ayushman Bharath, as it feels Arogyasri is far better. But the Governor’s opinion is that the State Government should utilize Ayushman Bharath scheme and its funds. A win-win solution according to her, is in merging Ayushman Bharath and Arogyasri schemes.
