CHENNAI: TNCC chief S. Thirunavukkarasar was joined by his predecessor E.V.K.S. Elangovan in the protest in the city on Thursday against demonetisation of high value currencies and other 'anti-people measures' of the Centre.

Speaking at the protest, Thirunavukkarasar said demonetisation had caused enormous misery to people and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had bro-ught out people's sufferings. Rahul had united 16 parties against the demonetisation move and Prime Minister Modi was not able to answer questions against the move in Parliament.

Citing the remarks of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, the Congress leader said Modi's move would not give any result. Recalling Modi's promise to bring back black money stashed abroad and deposit Rs 15 lakhs to every Indian's account, TNCC chief said the poor had been made poorer by the move. Instead of solving the numerous problems faced by people, Modi had added to their woes through his cash move, he added.
