HYDERABAD: Terming the state budget as nothing but a farce and an election stunt, the state BJP described as a particularly disappointing one for SCs, STs, BCs and EBCs.

In a statement here on Monday, the party’s state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar pointed out that if the government had to waive-off crop loans up to Rs one lakh, it should have allocated Rs 19,700 crore whereas it made an allocation of a mere Rs 6,285 crore. As regards the much-hyped Dalit Bandhu, the government had not spent much on the scheme last year, although it had allocated Rs 17,700 crore for it.

“It was a huge let down for the people who were expecting that the state government would implement his pre-poll promises at least during the election year,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a series of tweets, Union minister G Kishan Reddy described it as a ‘gimmick’, as it was laced with empty promises. “The budget is full of lies, inflated numbers and unrealistic promises. The farmhouse family allocated Rs 1,000 crore for advertisement and publicity, which is a 575% increase,” he said.

Party MLA Etala Rajendar felt that the budget was far away from reality. There are no appropriate allocations for education and health care and Manavuru-Manabadi remains an illusion.

“Due to lack of funding, private hospitals have  announced that they would not be supporting Arogyashree,” he said.
