Power usage in Telangana increases as mercury rises
As the demand for power increased in the state during the past two days, a review meeting was done on Tuesday at Vidyut Soudha.
Hyderabad: As the demand for power supply is increasing every day, the TS Tranco is taking all measures to ensure hassle free distribution in the state. “We are monitoring the production, supply and distribution of power every day. A day-to-day action plan will be prepared as per the requirement,” said Tranco CMD D. Prabhakar Rao.
As the demand for power increased in the state during the past two days, a review meeting was done on Tuesday at Vidyut Soudha. The officials pointed out that there was a demand of 10,075 Mega Watts of power across the state on Monday. Being a Rabi season, the farmers in Telangana are using power for 24 hours and as the mercury levels are rising every day, domestic utilisation has also increased.
The officials are expecting that the demand may touch 11,000 Mega Watts once the temperature levels rise in summer. In 2016-17 the average usage per day was 164 million units. Later in 2017-18 it rose to 179 million units and in 2018 -19 (till November) the figure touched 189 million units.
