Mangaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, calling it a 'den of corruption.'

He was speaking to reporters at Hubballi on Monday morning.

Bommai's remarks came in response to the Congress' call for a two-hour bandh on March 9 against corruption.

"The Congress party is a den of corruption. They do not have the right to speak about corruption. Those making allegations should be clean first. But this is not the case with Congress," he said.

He accused Congress leaders of calling for a bandh to write their political future through protests and bandhs.

Bommai dismissed their efforts, saying that people know the truth and voters will respond during the forthcoming assembly election.

Taking a dig at the Congress regime, Bommai said that during their tenure Corruption prevailed in everything, right from small things like pillows, beds, biscuits, coffee to irrigation works.

"When Siddaramaiah was the chief minister he had set targets for all the ministers. You can ask former ministers MB Patil, George, and Mahadevappa about the targets they were given," he added.
